Who won Anaheim 1 supercross? See below.

After a week of rain and many months of training, on Saturday night January 9th 2016, marked the very first Supercross of the season. All of the hype, all of the going to do it better this year, the new bikes, new teams and overconfidence comes to a head on this night. Who’s all talk and who wants it more? That is the question to be seen on Fox Sports 1 all year long.

A brutal 18 race series is ready to rock with a growing audience. According to the press conference the audience watching supercross last year grew by 6%, which is great for the sport… but, it would be interesting to see how many of us are turning into spectators and not racers these days with the cost of racing and the 4 stroke market! Right?

I have been waiting to see Stewart not only come back, but come back and finish. If you watched the race, then you already know the fate of Stewart’s night. What could have been something great after a great start, turned into a devistating blow for the Stewart family and Suzuki race team. No throw away races in this series and a blow like this, unless he dominates the rest of the series will statiscally check him out of contention…but I am sure many of you die hard Stewart fans would disagree. 9 lives? Cat like? And no, he is no savior, so don’t go there he is just human and can’t ride forever.

Stewart fans won’t like this, but a wise coach of mine once said… “If you are going to do something stupid, you better be tough!” Be tough James or wise up.

Speaking of decision making, Freise deserved every ounce of every fist pound in the back of the helmet from Peick and hopefully he gets straightened up by the AMA or his race team for upcoming races. Blocking as he does is dangerous and a clear pattern exists with him. If the AMA doesn’t slap him around, I am sure there will be others that will come along and do it.

I love to read the hype after Dungey spanked him into the ground after a bone head move by Stewart to cut down hard on a corner with an entire field of riders behind him (minus one). If Dungey wanted to blow him out of the water, the T-Bone would have been way more destructive as Dungey cleared braked hard after he noticed Stewart decided to cut down.

If you were on a 5 lane highway in Cali, driving 100mph with bumper to bumper traffic behind you and then you just turn the wheel and attempt to get off on an exit at the last minute, you are probably going to get knocked out or killed…. just sayin’

Reed rode solid on the new Factory Yamaha Team bike. Not sure that he has the young blood nitro boosts of energy like Seely and Jason Anderson, but if the stars align (Anderson wakes up late or Seely gets hurt) he could win one race this year. I wouldn’t put my money on him for the season, you can though.

Dungey rode smart, people can rip on him all they want but he is just plain smart, period. Decision making wins championships. Fell back to 6th, rode his own race and ended up 2nd.

Cooper Webb, the hype and the prep all go hand-in-hand. He is clearly in a different league amongst the west coast group, unless he gets hurt or does something stupid, he will be impossible to beat.

The 450 class is going to be a great class this year, better than last year with Anderson and Seely stepping it up. Hard to predict a dominating force. All the riders are rediculously fast. Barcia was a surprise to see the hard fade at the end, speed is there, but needs to put the race together – hoping he doesn’t turn into a 1 lap Allesi story.
Have a good week y’all! Talk after Anaheim 2!
