Round 3 2012 AMA Pro Supercross SX Series Los AngelesBy Jon Dreher
Round 3 2012 AMA Pro Supercross SX Series Los Angeles The 2012 season is another great season. Round 3 in Los Angeles, Saturday January 21st.Chad Reed wins the 450 Supercross Class! Ryan Dungey finishes second and James Stewart makes the podium! Trey Canard got landed on during the first lap and was injured badly, possibly breaking a couple of vertebre in his back. The race was red flagged. Say some prayers for this kid, he will need them. 250 West Main Event: Eli Tomac took the holeshot followed by Martin Davalos. Zach Osborne, Wilson, and Tyla rounding out the top 5. Osborne is looking great after racing the World motocross series for the past 3 years. Tomac had a healthy lead for the entire race, dominating the competition by 10 seconds over 2nd place. Finally, a challenge for the Pro Circuit team, this kid should keep them honest. Pro Circuit, although a great team, has been dominating 250 Supercross and Outdoor Motocross for years. It is great to see a team and rider that can give them some good competition. Zach Osborne moved into second part way into the race and Cole Seely continued to struggle making mistakes and falling. At the end, Tomac had a 15 second lead over Osborne, with Wilson and Rattray following. 450 Main Event: Ryan Dungey took the holeshot, but after a horrific crash by Trey Canard and Ryan Morais after a triple jump the race was red flagged and they did a restart. After the restart Ivan Tedesco took the holeshot, but Weimer pulled out on top. Ryan Villopoto goes down in corner number 3 and ended up in 15th place. Weimer was leading, Stewart, Reed and Dungey rounded out the top 4. Eli Tomac from the 250 class was almost 2nd fastest even against the 450 lap times. Stewart crashed, as usual, on lap 12 and Dungey passes him for 2nd place. Chad Reed had about a 5 second lead at the half way point, while Villopoto continued to charge and would soon be nipping at the heels of James "Falls Alot" Stewart. Within 2 seconds of Stewart, Villopoto could not seal the deal.

Marvin Musquin is again battling with Tyla Rattray. They are fifth and sixth now. Michael Leib, another MX GP competitor, is next. Lap seven - Tomac is styling out front. He looks comfortable. And fast. And how about Zach Osborne - he's passed Martin Davalos for second! Eli Tomac is literally flying out front. He is styling all over the track. His lap times - in the 53 second range! He leads second place Zach Osborne at the ten lap mark by ... ten seconds. The top five - Tomac, Osborne, Wilson now into third, Marvin Musquin fourth, Tyla Rattray fifth. Last year's winner here Cole Seely has had a poor night, with at least two falls. He's 18th. Lap 13. Marvin Musquin was making a charge up to Wilson and Osborne, but falls. It's now Eli Tomac leading Zach Osborne by over 15 seconds. Third is Wilson, one second behind Osborne. Fourth is Rattray. And Wilson passes Zach Osborne now for second. |
